That is called sun tea and has been around for years (we made it in the 1970's). Get a gallon jar, put in the amount of tea bags it says to on the back of the teabag box. Put lid on jar. Set in the sun for one hour. Remove the tea bags.Refrigerate after that. You can add the lemon slices when you put in the tea bags. You can adjust the number of tea bags to make it stronger or less tea bags for not as strong. But be sure to refrigerate it after the hour. We used to go to a restaurant in Minnesota that she would make sun tea, but never refrigerated it and it would spoil. Tasted so bad, people would gag from it. Yes, she was dumb enough to still serve it. We kept trying to tell her it has to be kept in refrigerator.

If you are making sun tea, all you need to do is fill the gallon jug with water, add approx. 12 regular sized tea bags, put the lid on and let it sit in the sun until your prefrence of darkness is achieved (usually 2 hrs) Don't add the lemon to the water before brewing the tea, it will prevent the tea from brewing to the deep dark color that you want it to. Add your sugar, and lemon after you bring the jug in from outside. If you add the lemons directly into the jug, don't forget to take them out before you put your tea in the fridge. If you leave the lemons in, they will give the tea a bitter taste after a while... You are better off just squeezing the lemon juice into the jug (watching so you dont add seeds.. The easiest way to achieve this is to place your hand palm-up over the jug, squeze the lemon and allow the seads to be caught by your fingers.) You can then just add a slice, or wedge of lemon to a nice tall glass 3/4 full of ice, then pour on the tea! Another good tip to keep the ice from diluting the glass of iced tea is to make a nice batch of strong-brewed tea on the stovetop, let it cool, add some sugar then pour into an ice cube try then freeze. When the cubes are done, you can just store them in a freezer-bag in the freezer and add them to your iced tea when needed. Since they are made of tea, they will cool the drink nicely without watering it down.
I hope these tips help. Nothing beats a nice fresh-brewed glass of iced tea on a hot summer's day.

I will boil about 2 1/2 quarts of water and add 4 family sized lipton tea bags. Turn the heat off and cover it with a lid. I'll leave it for an hour then pour it into a gallon sized pitcher. Add anywhere from 1 - 1 1/2 cups of sugar to the hot tea, then add cold water in the remainder of the pitcher. This makes great sweet tea.
(I find that if you boil the water while the tea bags are in it, it can make it bitter.)

i think the longer you let it soak in the sun the better it also depends on how many and what kind of tea bags your using i also found that when you leave the lemons in it it really tastes nasty try squeezing the lemon in after you take it in from the sun. I have also seen people put a whole bunch of tea bags in a coffee pot (where the filters usually go) and the let it process like coffee i think it comes out the same way as sun tea after all is said and done add sugar to suite taste but the key is to not over load it with sugar just enough to give it a taste.

Heat some water in a kettle. Put 4 to 8 favroite tea bags
in a glass or plastic pitcher. When the kettle whistles, take kettle off stove and pour into the pitcher, being careful so as to not let even one tea bag fall in. When the tea has steeped to your prefference, add some cold water and or a flavored beverage and stir. Then refrigerate. Serve in glasses with or with out ice. As an option, add mint leaves, honey and or fresh lemon juice.

Sun tea is very weak. The hotter the sun, the better. I usually use 5-6 tea bags and one lemon per gallon of water. Let sit out all day in direct sun light.

1. Boil water and drop in tea bags
2. when the smell of the tea begins to come out and strong, toss the tea bags. Let cool.
3. Drop in lemons and ice. Don't put in sugar. Make a syrup and put aside. Some people don't put sugar in their tea. They put honey or nothing at all.

Sun tea usually turns out kinda weak. I take 3 family sized bags and boil them in 1 qt. of water. then pour it in a gallon pitcher and add water till full. add a little sugar at a time until it's sweet. cool it down and serve with a slice of lemon in a glass if you like. you might have to practice a few times to get it just right.

The only way to get tasty ice tea is to mix freshly prepared strong hot tea with an ice. It is the basic drink. Lemon juice, sugar, etc. - it depends on your wishes and your particular taste.
One additional mote: no teabags. Only real tea and teapot.

You can just put the tea bags and water in a pan and boil for short time or make it in a coffee maker. Both of these are quicker.
