Who makes the best coffee?

Choose from Starbucks, Peet's, Illy as your favorite.
and WHY? Is it because of the way they roast the coffee, special types of coffee beans, or innovative coffee related specialties (ie.Caramel Machiato)?

Starbucks! I know a lot of people don't thinks so and of course it is over priced, but it is answers a special treat for me to go to Starbucks.



My favorite: Vanilla latte with extra foam

That's really subjective. Peet's is very good, but their "roast profile" is pretty narrow, and usually tends to range from Vienna to French roasts. Peet's was started by Alfred Peet, by the way; he's called the "grandfather of specialty coffee." Starbuck's, like Peet's, also has a fairly narrow roast profile, but they have been very successful in mass-marketing the specialty coffee idea. Their sweetened beverages dress up the coffee nicely for many people, and have also caught on through other retailers, such as Dunkin' Donuts.



I'm a coffee roaster, and I actually enjoy lighter roasts than Starbuck's or Peet's (although that depends on the type of bean that's roasted).

If you're talking straight coffee then Peet's. First they are very selective in the coffee beans that they buy and they deep roast each coffee individually in single-batch roasters.



For the variety of sweet drinks, Starbuck's.

Starbucks makes the expensive but worth ya money coffee and for store bought coffee, try french vanilla coffee and just add what you want in it like caramel and cinnamon.
