Yes. Drip coffee should be at about 185 degrees f. Too cool and the coffee won't extract properly, too hot and the oils will burn.

Yes! Temperature while brewing coffee has an immense effect. You really want the water temp to be right at 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Too hot and the brew will be very bitter and over-extracted. Too cold and the brew will be sour and under-extracted.



I am personally a huge fan of manual brewing methods like the french press or chemex. You should check them out too!

Not really ....it's the quality of your water, how much coffee you use compared to water measured, plus how fast the water runs through the coffee grounds in the filter. The coffee should be ground just for a drip coffeemaker for it to have the strength and flavor you expect.
