I have a local roaster I really like, but S-Buck's Italian Roast is pretty damn delicious. I also like Kicking Horse's Grizzly Claw. Lighter roasts will be more acidic, so expect anything with "morning" or "breakfast" to have a more fruity or citrusy tone to it, and will usually be described as "bright." Dark roasts get most of that acid out, so you're left with more of the chocolaty, earthy flavors with a richer, thicker mouthfeel. Lighter roasts are for tasting the differences in estates. Darker roasts are just for enjoying a good cup of coffee.

General points of advice for a good cup of coffee:

Fresh beans - buy something that hasn't sat on a shelf for two months, and only buy what you'll use within a couple of weeks.

Fresh grind - don't grind it 'til you're ready to brew. Use a burr grinder.

Fresh water - clean filtered water or bottled water makes a big difference.

Freshly brewed - don't make it the night before or let it sit out all day.

I recommend using a French press. $15-20 off Amazon is all it takes, and you can brew a great cup of coffee that tastes almost as good and rich as an espresso. Add a tiny pinch of salt to your pot to help cut any unpleasant bitterness.
